What is LinkedIn automation?
LinkedIn automation is software that does the repetitive part of LinkedIn outreach for you. It visits profiles, sends connection requests, and sends follow-up messages to the people who accept. You choose who to reach and what to say. The tool does the clicking, day after day.
Done well, it looks like a careful person who is good at follow-up. Done badly, it looks like a bot: hundreds of requests in an hour, the same message to everyone, activity at 3am. LinkedIn notices the second kind.
So the real question is not whether to automate. It is what to automate, how fast, and what to keep for yourself. This page answers all 3.
- Warm-up for every newly connected account
- 21 days
- Connection requests a week, at most, per account
- 100
- Actions per visit at most, then a 6 to 14 minute break
- 6
- Fixed residential IP per LinkedIn account
- 1
What you can safely automate on LinkedIn
Automate the steps that are the same for everyone. Keep the steps that need judgement. That split is what makes automation feel personal to the person on the other side.
Let the tool do it
- Finding leads
- Pull people from a LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search, an event, a post's reactions and comments, a group, your own connections, a CSV or a list of profile links.
- Profile visits
- A visit before the request, so your name shows up in their "who viewed your profile" first.
- Connection requests
- With or without a note. If a note runs past LinkedIn's limit once names are filled in, a shorter backup note goes instead.
- Follow-up messages
- Only to people who accepted, with a wait you choose between each one. Split the path on whether they connected or read your message.
- Light engagement
- Like their latest post, follow them, endorse a few skills. Small signals that you are a real person paying attention.
- Tidying up
- Invites nobody answered after 21 days are withdrawn, so your pending list never piles up.
Keep it human
- Who you reach
- A short, sharp list beats a big vague one. You pick the search, the event or the post.
- What you say
- Write it in your own voice. Test 2 versions of a note or a message and keep the one that gets replies.
- Every reply
- A reply stops that person's sequence at once. From there it is a conversation, and you answer it yourself.
- The call
- The point of all of it. Automation gets you the meeting. You win the deal.
LinkedIn's limits, in plain numbers
LinkedIn publishes very few of its limits on purpose, and they vary from account to account. Here is what LinkedIn says, what automation tools have agreed on, and what Personade does.
| Action | What LinkedIn says | What Personade does |
|---|---|---|
| Connection requests a week | No published number. Tools agree on about 100 | 100 at most, a hard cap |
| Connection requests a day | No published number | 20 by default, 50 at most |
| Messages a day | No published number | 50 by default, 100 at most |
| Profile views a day | No published number | 80 by default, 150 at most |
| Notes on invitations | 200 characters. Free accounts get 3 notes a month | A shorter backup note when yours runs long |
| Withdrawn invitations | You cannot invite the same person again for up to 3 weeks | Withdrawn after 21 days, not re-invited for 21 days |
| Searches on a free account | A monthly limit, number not published | Search pages paced, imports paused until the reset |
- Each day's real limit lands a few actions under your number, so no 2 days look the same.
- Everything runs in your working hours, in your time zone. Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm, unless you change it.
- If LinkedIn shows a restriction or a security check, that account stops at once and you get an alert.

How LinkedIn automation tools differ
Most tools send the same requests and messages. What changes is where they run, what you pay for, and which channels they cover.
- Where it runs
- Desktop tools run on your computer or a server you set up, so it has to stay on. Cloud tools like Personade run on our servers, from a fixed connection, with nothing to install.
- What you pay for
- Some tools charge per user and put features on higher plans. We charge per LinkedIn account, and every plan has every feature.
- Which channels
- Some tools mix LinkedIn with cold email. Personade does LinkedIn only, and does it carefully. If email is half your outreach, a multichannel tool may suit you better.
Side by side with the tools you are looking at
- Personade vs Linked HelperDesktop LinkedIn automation you run yourself. Cheap, and the safety set-up is your job.
- Personade vs WaalaxyEntry-level LinkedIn prospecting with monthly invitation quotas that grow with the plan.
- Personade vs Dux-SoupOne of the oldest LinkedIn automation tools, now sold as a desktop app or a pricier cloud version.
- Personade vs DripifyCloud LinkedIn drip campaigns, with the features spread across three plans.
- Personade vs Meet AlfredLinkedIn automation with a built-in CRM, and multichannel on the higher plans.
- Personade vs La Growth MachineMultichannel sequences (LinkedIn, email, calls, X) priced per identity.
- Personade vs HeyReachLinkedIn outreach built for agencies running many sender accounts, with a unified inbox and an API.
- Personade vs ExpandiCloud LinkedIn automation with strong safety features and if-this-then-that sequences.
- Personade vs SkyleadLinkedIn and email sequences in one tool, with email warm-up built in.
- Personade vs LemlistCold email first, with LinkedIn steps added on the Multichannel plan.
For people who sell on LinkedIn
- Founders
- You have the offer and no time. Set up one sequence, then spend your hour a day on replies.
- Sellers and consultants
- Run several campaigns from your own account, test what you say, and see what gets answers.
- Agencies and small teams
- Several LinkedIn accounts, one workspace, one inbox. That is the Agency plan.

Still wondering?
help@personade.comSoftware that does the repetitive part of LinkedIn outreach for you: visiting profiles, sending connection requests and sending follow-up messages to people who accept. You choose who to reach and what to say. A good tool does it at a human pace, from your own account, and stops when someone replies.
It is as safe as the behaviour it creates. LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow automated tools, so any automation carries some risk to the account. What LinkedIn acts on is behaviour: sudden spikes, the same message to hundreds of people, activity at night, logins from new places. Personade gives each account a fixed residential IP, warms new accounts up over 21 days, keeps daily limits low and only runs in your working hours. If LinkedIn shows a restriction or a security check, we stop.
Finding leads, profile visits, connection requests with or without a note, follow-up messages to people who accepted, post likes, follows and skill endorsements, and withdrawing invites nobody answered. Keep the replies and the call for yourself.
LinkedIn does not publish a number, and it varies by account. Automation tools agree on about 100 a week. Personade sends 20 a day by default, lets you go up to 50, and never sends more than 100 a week from one account. A new account starts at 30% of that and reaches full speed on day 21.
They see a normal connection request or message from your own profile. What gives automation away is the writing: a template that reads like one, sent to someone who clearly was not chosen. Short, specific messages to a well-picked list do not read as automated, because they are not generic.
No. Personade runs in the cloud. There is no Chrome extension and no tab to keep open. Close your laptop and your campaigns carry on inside your working hours.
No. Sequences run on LinkedIn only: profile visits, connection requests, messages, likes, follows and endorsements. There are no email sequences and no InMail steps yet, and no CRM sync. If cold email is a big part of your outreach, a multichannel tool may suit you better.
Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for one LinkedIn account with every feature. Agency is $39 per account a month, or $29 yearly, 3 accounts at least. Both start with 14 days free.
