Your banner stays in your browser. We never upload it.
Covered areas are our estimate. LinkedIn does not publish them.
Your banner probably looks fine on your laptop
Most people check their banner once, on the screen they made it on. Then LinkedIn puts the profile photo over the bottom left, and the phone app cuts off the sides. The line you cared about can end up behind your face.
This checker shows you that in a few seconds. Pick the image you already use. We put it on a LinkedIn profile, on desktop and in the phone app, and list what to fix in plain words: the size, the sharpness, the file, and anything under the photo or off the edge.
It is free and needs no account. Your image is read in your browser and never uploaded to us.
What the banner checker looks at
8 checks, each with what to do if it fails. The first 4 use LinkedIn's own numbers. The last 4 use our estimate of where the photo lands, because LinkedIn does not publish it.
- Size and shape
- Is it 1584 x 396 px, or at least 4:1? If not, LinkedIn makes you crop it and we say how much goes.
- Sharpness
- How much LinkedIn has to stretch it. Smaller than about 1200 px wide looks blurry.
- File type and size
- JPG or PNG, under 8MB. Anything else will not upload.
- Under your photo
- On desktop and in the phone app, separately, because the photo is bigger and further in on phones.
- The sides on phones
- The app shows a narrower slice, so about 200 px goes from each side.
- Text near the edges
- If you mark your text, we check it has room to breathe.
Why we ask you to mark your text
We do not read the words on your banner. There is no text recognition and no AI here, and nothing is sent anywhere. So we ask you to drag a box over the part that matters: your headline, your logo, your website.
We check that box against the photo on desktop, the photo on phones and the sides the app cuts. It takes 2 seconds and it is optional.
Without a box we still look for busy detail under the photo: lots of sharp edges, the way text, logos and faces have. A plain sky passes. A paragraph of text does not. It cannot tell words from leaves, so it only ever says check, never fix.
LinkedIn banner size and file rules
LinkedIn recommends 1584 x 396 pixels for a personal profile banner, a 4:1 shape, as a JPG or PNG under 8MB. A bigger image in the same shape is fine. A smaller one gets stretched and goes soft.

How to fix what the checker finds
Most fixes are one of 3 things: resize the image to 1584 x 396 px, move your words to the right half, or export a bigger file. If you would rather start again, our LinkedIn banner maker keeps your words in the part both views show, and you can use your own photo as the background.
Then upload it and open your profile on your phone once. That is the view most people forget.
A good banner gets you looked at. Outreach gets you replies.
People look at your banner when something brings them to your profile: a post, a comment, a connection request. The banner does not start conversations. Reaching out does.
That is what we build. Personade sends your connection requests and follow-ups from your own LinkedIn account, inside safe daily limits, and puts every reply in one inbox. See how LinkedIn sequences work or our pricing: Pro is $49 a month, with 14 days free.
How to check your LinkedIn banner
Pick your banner
The image you use now, or the one you are about to upload. Drop it on the page or choose it.
Look at both views
Switch between desktop and the phone app. The coral line is the photo on desktop, the dashed blue lines are the phone app.
Mark your text
Optional. Drag a box over your headline or logo so we can check it against the photo and the edges.
Read the result
One line per check, worst first, each with what to do.
Fix it and check again
Change the image, or start over in the banner maker, then pick the new file.
What this checker does, and does not do
- Your image is read in your browser and never sent to us or stored anywhere.
- Where the photo lands and what phones cut are our estimate. LinkedIn does not publish them and can change its layout.
- We do not read the words on your banner. Mark your text if you want it checked.
- The busy detail check counts sharp edges. It flags text, logos and faces, but also leaves and patterns, so it says check, not fix.
- If your image is not 4:1, we show it cropped from the middle, the way LinkedIn's crop box starts.
- It checks personal profile banners. Company page covers use a different size.

Still wondering?
help@personade.comPick your banner on this page. We show it on a LinkedIn profile on desktop and in the phone app, with the photo where it lands, and list anything that is the wrong size, too small, or covered. It takes a few seconds and the image stays in your browser.
1584 x 396 pixels, a 4:1 shape, as a JPG or PNG under 8MB. That is LinkedIn's own recommendation for a personal profile. A bigger image in the same shape works too.
Usually because it is smaller than 1584 x 396 px and LinkedIn stretches it to fit. The checker tells you how many times it gets stretched. Export it at 1584 x 396 px or larger.
The bottom left. On desktop it is a circle about 300 px wide in banner pixels. In the phone app it is bigger and sits further in. LinkedIn does not publish exact positions, so we show our best estimate and lean to the cautious side.
The LinkedIn app shows a narrower slice of the banner, so about 200 px goes from each side. Keep words and logos away from the far left and right.
No. The image is read in your browser and checked there. Nothing is sent to us, so there is nothing for us to keep.
No, on purpose. There is no text recognition and no AI. Drag a box over your text instead and we check that box against the photo and the edges.
Each line says what to do. If it is easier to start again, the LinkedIn banner maker on this site keeps your words clear of the photo on desktop and phones, and downloads at 1584 x 396 px.
